Gem State Staffing in Pocatello is now accepting applications and resumes for a HSE Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager, HSE the HSE Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the company’s safety programs which include research, analysis, development, education, training and communications in the field of accident prevention and loss control for the divisional operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Responsible for ensuring the Company’s compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental laws, codes or regulations through:

• Developing and recommending company policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of the employees and to protect the environment

• Developing, recommending and implementing training programs, procedures and methods to promote safety and reduce accidents, injuries and their associated costs

• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the company’s safety programs and recommending improvements to ensure that maximum compliance is achieved

• Compiling, analyzing, interpreting and distributing accident and injury statistical data to Management

• Conducting random in-house and on-site inspections or audits to ensure compliance with existing regulations and to identify and correct potential hazards

2. Provides Senior Management, Supervisors, Employees and Subcontractors with service and advice relative to Health and Safety and Environmental issues

3. Recommends and implements preventative measures through:

• Conducting and reviewing accident/incident reports to determine the causative factors and recommending actions to prevent recurrence including determining any specialized skills and knowledge

4. Responsible for the development, implementation and maintaining an active Workers’ Compensation Board Claims Management System including managing the disability program for the company

5. Coordinates and fosters joint work-site committees and meetings at each company location and construction site

6. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

• Preferred associates degree or equivalent experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience with Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Health and Safety

Skills and Abilities

• Investigative skills

• Presentation skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Software Knowledge

• Word and Excel
